Introduction to Eto Mori’s novel “colorful” and the issue of psychological trauma in children

Abstract

The main content of this article focuses on the psychological analysis of the main character – called Kobayashi Makoto - in the novel titled “Colorful” written by Eto Mori. In addition to an overview of the author and the adaptation of the novel, the article addressed the issue of depression and psychological trauma in adolescence, including their causes, emotional symptoms, and the process of self-healing psychological damage under the lens of behavioral psychology. The article provides a different view of Japanese people and Japanese society through this contemporary literary novel, thereby helping readers have a more multifaceted and richer view of the literature of this country.
